Antonis Zannos

Antonis grew up on an island in the Cyclades (Andros) with a nautical tradition. From a young age, he was attracted to activities with the sea. He was involved in sailing on an optimist, Lazer and 4.20 boat. As he grew older, he moved on to offshore sailing. He studied at the Aspropyrgos Naval Academy and began his professional career on cargo and oil tankers.

Antonis grew up on an island in the Cyclades (Andros) with a nautical tradition. From a young age, he was attracted to activities with the sea. He was involved in sailing on an optimist, Lazer and 4.20 boat. As he grew older, he moved on to offshore sailing. He studied at the Aspropyrgos Naval Academy and began his professional career on cargo and oil tankers. After about 10 years on ships, his love for adventure and sailing pushed him to orient his career on sailing vessels. In recent years, he has acquired his own boat and invites you to discover the beauties of the sea and the Greek islands. Antonis Zannos, with more than 35 years’ experience on yachting, is a professional captain on Classic Sailing Yachts, Motor Yachts & Mega Sailing Yachts, (M/Y Ostria, S/Y Odysseus, S/Y Marina II, S/Y Kallisto, S/Y Amadeus, S/Y Aello, M/S Efi, S/Y Allure A, M/S Astarti, S/Y Lamadine), and he owns Sun Odyssey 519 and “Anafi Sailing”

Education

  • Graduate of Naval High School of Andros Island.
  • Diploma captain class C from the School of Merchant marine academy in Aspropyrgos.
  • General operations GMDSS.
  • Deck officer in charge of a navigational watch serving of a ship irrespective of tonnage.
  • Chief mate of cargo and passenger ships less than 2500 and 1500 gt respectively.

Experience

  • 1986-1991: On seagoing ships, cargo boats and tankers, for the companies ORION and ANDRIAKH.
  • 1991-1993: Military service in the Hellenic Navy.
  • 1993 – 1999: Pickups – Transports – Delivery of sailing boats within the Mediterranean. Charter with companies such as Seaways sailing, Kyriakoulis, Vernikos, Moorings, etc. Maintenance – Repairs of different kind of boats. Placing masts–rewiring- etc and general ringing works with the company Meltemi Yachting.
  • 1999: From 20/5/1999 to 6/7/1999 captain on Μ/Υ Ostria 72 feet, of private use.
  • 1999-2000: Captain from 6/7/1999 to 7/11/2000 on S/Y Odysseus type Dynamic 63ft Bermuda cutter, two-membered crew, of charter use, of the company Status Yachting.
  • 2001-2003: Captain from 16/2/2001 to 19/3/2003 on S/Y Marina II, type CNB 64 ft Bermuda sloop, two-membered crew, charter and private use, of the company Vernicos Yachting.
  • 2003-2004: Captain from 31/3/2003 to 16/2/2004 on S/Y Kallisto, Swan 80 ft Bermuda sloop, five-membered crew, of charter use, management of Atalanta Marine.
  • 2004-2006: Captain from 10/4/2004 to 31/1/2006 on S/Y Amadeus, Dynamic 110 ft Bermuda cutter, five-membered crew of charter use, management of Big Blue Yachting.
  • 2006-2007: Pickups – Transports – Delivery of boats from Bordeaux to Greece, for companies and private citizens. Collaboration with the Maritime Museum of Cyclades for the transports to events of the Hellenic Navy of the S/Y Evaggelistria, sloop 17 m, type Perama, sails guff schooner. Occasional captain on S/Y Armonia, type Bermuda sloop, of private use. Work concerning ringing, chartering, sea trails etc. for the boat Prince de Neufchatel 70 ft circa 1820.
  • 2007-2014: Captain from 22/5/2007 to 07/2014 on S/Y Aello, six-membered crew, type guff schooner, LOA 128ft, property of Ι. Varouxakis, company Aello Ν.Ε.Π.Α for private and charter use.
  • During this time a 27month overhaul of the boat took place, where work such as: planking, plumbing oil/water/drainage, replacement of tanks, electrics (panels, automatisms, etc.) replacement of the main engine, propeller axis, A/C, generators, colouring of interior and exterior spaces, etc. was realized.

  • 2015: Captain on M/S Efi, four-membered crew, LOA 80ft, property of Argiris Stathopoulos, company Traditional Ν.Ε.Π.Α for charter use.
  • 2015: Captain on S/Y Allure A, aluminum construction, (sterling yachts South African naval yard), six-membered crew, LOA 42m, property of A. Kondilis, company Allure A. Ν.Ε.Π.Α for private and charter use (part time job).
  • 2015 till 30/9/2017: Captain on M/S Astarti, four-membered crew, LOA 80ft, property of Constantinos Simeonidis, company Royal Blue Ν.Ε.Π.Α for charter use.
  • April of 2018 till November 2018 Captain on S/Y Lamadine four membered crew, LOA 30 meters Camper and Niholsons 1967 company Blue Shark Ν.Ε.Π.Α for charter use.
  • 15/03/2019 until 30/10/2019 Captain on S/Y AELLO guff schooner 128 ft , charter use.
  • 01/03/2020 till April 2021 Captain & supervisor of the refit on S/Y SPIRIT Bermuda schooner 1978, 90ft, charter & private use.
  • 10/5 /2021 and until completed the refit.
